Located on East Jim Wells County Road 401
about 5 miles south of Premont, Texas and 5
miles north of Falfurrias (map),
the La Gloria Independent
School District consists of only one Elementary
campus made up of 6 buildings. These buildings
serve as facilities for the local Kindergarten to 6th
grade levels.
The La Gloria School District first
opened its doors on October 9, 1909. The first
classes were held in a small white frame building while
a new red brick schoolhouse was being constructed.

By the late 1930s, increased
enrollment demanded another school building. The
first image below shows this new Elementary building as it
looked in 1940 (Mr. Procopio Guerra, then-maintenance
