On September 1, 1978, La Gloria Common School District No. 21 in Jim Wells County automatically became La Gloria Independent School District No. 906 in Jim Wells County.

In 1997, Library and Computer Learning Center rooms were added (first picture, courtesy of Ms. Ana Alvarado, depicts the building as it was being constructed; second picture shows as seen today, which includes a third room--Room #12, completed by 1999 that up until 2005 was used as an Early Childhood Classroom--and since March 2007 has been used as the 3rd Grade Classroom):
